It seems that Palam Vihar is all set to get the first-of-its-kind smart, clean and respectable public transport. Reaching the Metro station in Dwarka, Kapashera bus terminus or IFFCO Chowk will not be that hassling for daily commuters. Smart transport backed by fleet of bicycles and strictly laid restriction on speed limit on the arterial roads, making roads pedestrian friendly, are all what the Palam Vihar Transport (PVT) Paradise promises to the residents and responding to the need of such facilities, community has come out decisively to patronize the project.
To get the residents feed back and to prepare the road map for the first phase of PVT Paradise, Palam Vihar Residents Association (PVRA) held a workshop at Chancellor Club recently with the service provider Ten Systems. According to Chandra Vikas, chief executive officer of Ten Systems, who is also a resident of Palam Vihar, in next phases the project will cover the whole of Gurgaon and then it will be at the NCR level. The first phase of the project is proposed to be launched on March 31, the day Delhi Metro runs its first train to Dwarka Sector-9.
The most encouraging feature of the transport system is that it will be affordable, timely and all the vehicles used will be environment-friendly and on the top of that there will be regular services for passengers and also residents could get the transport on demand. Moreover, there will be free and concessional pick-up service for senior citizens and provision for safe bicycle parking for students at Palam Vihar Vyapar Kendra. To make it safer bicycle lanes will be marked on the existing roads and the speed restriction would be 35 kmph in the inner roads. The service will be open to registered residents of the area and their guests.
According to Chandra Vikas, there would be two types of services for residents - regular and premium. In case of regular service, passengers will be identified block-wise and their time of departure will be recorded and information will also be collected. "The information will be fed into the software and hence none has to call up every time. In the beginning per passenger cost will come around Rs.1.5 per kilometre in case of regular service and Rs.5 for premium service," said Chandra Vikas.
