An air-conditioned low-floor Compressed Natural Gas-fuelled intra-city bus service will soon be started in Gurgaon. The service is being started by the Haryana government to target Gurgaon’s upmarket newer areas. the service is expected to start within a month.
‘’The State Transport Department is procuring 10 luxury air-conditioned buses and we hope to begin the service soon,'’ said Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner R.P. Bhardwaj.

‘’The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has given Rs 3 crore to the transport department to procure these buses,'’ said a Haryana government spokesperson.
‘’With this, the government is attempting to redress the long standing demand for an adequate public transport system to Gurgaon,'’ said the spokesperson.
To ensure that these buses actually benefit residential areas in Gurgaon, particularly the newly-developed ones, the Gurgaon administration will seek feedback from resident welfare associations, industrial associations and others to finalise the bus routes.
‘’Haryana Roadways General Manager Jaibir Singh Arya will decide on the bus routes in consultation with these bodies,'’ said the spokesperson.
The bus service had been in the pipeline since January this year, when Haryana Roadways launched the first CNG-fuelled High-Capacity Bus Service between Gurgaon and Delhi on a three-month trial.
Haryana’s Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary Raminder Jakhu had said the proposal to start the service was at an advanced stage and the buses were likely to hit the roads by May.
Haryana government’s previous attempts at starting local bus services in Gurgaon have not met with much success.
The City Bus Service, introduced a year back, failed as the bus operators plied their buses on lucrative routes which they decided on themselves.
Another experiment to start two Haryana Roadways exclusively for newer areas in Gurgaon had also fallen flat for want of adequate publicity.
