Gurgaon News: Pvt firm to draft Gurgaon plan

Damage control after leak leaves govt. red-faced

The HARYANA government had hired a private agency to redraft the Gurgaon Master Plan 2021. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has quashed the plan after report of information leakage. The agency will now conduct a detailed study and then assist the town & Country Planning department in reformulating the Master Plan in two months time.

Unlike the earlier one, the new plan would propose integrated development in Gurgaon and Maneser. The Town Planning department wants to finish off the matter as quickly as possible to salvage the situation. The Haryana CM tried to hush up the controversy y saying that it was not the Master Plan but a general environment impact study of Gurgaon that was leaked.

Last week, Hooda, who was in town to inaugurate some development projects, admitted that there had been an goof-up but said that this could be the handiwork of some people who wanted to use the Master Plan for their interested. There were reports that some officials of the Town Planning department and the Haryana Urban Development Authority were involved in the information leak.

Town planning director SS Dhillon said that the private agency that has been hired for the job would conduct a detailed study on the demographics, geographic aspects, traffic population and various other aspects of Gurgaon and Manesar. “It’s will submit the report to the town planning department in two months,” said Dillon adding that the job would cost the government Rs 22 lakh. Sources in district administration claimed that final draft of the Gurgaon Master Plan 2021 that sent to Haryana CM by the District Town & Country Planning department in June 2005 for approval had been sold to land mafia. The plan had extensive details on the development projects in existing urban areas as well as expansion plans of the urban area by acquiring additional land of surrounding villages.

The drafts were also signed by the chairman of the district committee R.P. Bhardwaj who is also the district magistrate of Gurgaon. However, he claims that he had not gone through the draft of the plan that he had signed. Recently when he asked the DTCP officials to show the blue pint of the plan, they refused to oblige.
